On the 23rd of April, we were thrilled to welcome two representatives from Corrimal RSL to visit us here at Coolgardie and help the children learn about and honour the importance of ANZAC Day, which is coming up soon.
When our special visitors arrived, the Dolphins joined us in the Seahorse room, where everyone put on their listening ears and showed wonderful respect and attention throughout the visit. The children did an amazing job being patient, engaged, and respectful while learning from our guests.
David and Henri shared information about their medals, hats, and bugle, and even taught the children how to march. The children were very excited to have the opportunity to try on the hats and attempt to play the bugle themselves. They also learnt about the Last Post, the significance of ANZAC biscuits, and why Australian soldiers wear the traditional Slouch Hat before participating in our formal service.
As part of the experience, the children stood together for a minute of silence to show their respect and gratitude. To thank our visitors for taking the time to spend the morning with us, we presented them with ANZAC biscuits and beautiful posters created by each room, which will now be proudly displayed in the front window of the RSL club.
A huge thank you to David and Henri for visiting us today and helping create such a meaningful and memorable experience for the children.
